Isn't it divine?? I made this beret for my 10 yo daughter as she is going away at the end of August to the UK with my mother for a whole month! My mum has bought her some new clothes (going to visit the relatives) so I wanted to make her something nice to wear while she is there. It will be the beginning of Autumn when she arrives and she will be spending time in Scotland for part of it so I thought she may need a hat to keep her warm.
I made it out of a 80% bamboo/20% merino yarn with a 3.50mm hook. This yarn worked really well with the shape of the hat as it is quite heavy weight and falls beautifully. I started to use this pattern but I used it more as a guide as my wool size and hook size were significantly finer. I found myself having to make the pattern up myself as went along!
But that being said I am so happy with this hat that I have started making one for myself in a lovely deep green. I have used Jo Sharp Silk Road DK Tweed (85% wool 10% silk 5% cashmere) which is a much lighter weight yarn and doesn't fall as nicely as the bamboo. I think it will still turn out alright but I will definitely make any future ones in a heavy weighted yarn. This time I have written down the pattern as I've crocheted along so I will be able to make this available very soon!
Oh and before I go I haven't forgotten to write down the pattern for this hat...
Yes, this is a blatant opportunity to show off that gorgeous little face one more time but I promise I will have the pattern posted very soon!!
Hope you all had a great weekend

the beret is simpy divine I love it, my 10 yo daughter is going to WA in September and I feel so nervous my 16 yo daughter went when she was 10 and I wasn't so bad then, your daughter must be very excited
I love this beret so much! It is gorgeousness x 1000!!! Love the blue and black together like that too. Just fabulous :) K
You are seriously kicking ... with your crochet! That beret rocks.
Sure she shouldn't stop at Paris too? You know, since she already has the beret and since she will be gone for a month? And if she can't I will, ok?! :)
Oh this is super cute. one in green would be gorgeous too!
Gosh you will miss your girl...what an exciting time for her :)
It's sublime!
She is over the moon about going. I am slightly apprehensive but I know what a great it experience it will be for her
Oh thank you! I love it too. The flower and band is actually navy, you can't tell in the photo but black would look great too!
You are fast earning the mantle of Crochet Queen. And I'm waiting on those patterns (with a cold head) before I pick up my hook! I love 'em both.
I know! I wouldn't be able to help myself if I was going too. I told her she should convince my mum to go on a trip to Paris for a couple of days while they are there! Don't know if it will work!
Thank you. Yes it will be an exciting adventure for her. I will miss her but will know she will be having a fantastic time
Thank you. I love the word sublime.
Ok, it so good, I am going to take up crochet now!!
Crochet queen? Aww shucks. That's such a lovely thing to say. You won't be waiting too much longer. Both patterns written down, only need to type them up and translate them into a readable format.
