Gingernut Biscuits

Ingredients:

90grams butter
1/3 cup of brown sugar
1/3 cup of golden syrup
1 1/3 cups of plain flour
3/4 teaspoon of baking soda
1 tablespoon ground ginger
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground clove
zest of 1/2 orange (optional)

Method:

Pre-heat oven to 180 degrees celsius.

Place butter, sugar and golden syrup into a saucepan and heat until butter is melted (if you decide to use zest, add it into the butter mixture). Add to sifted dry ingredients.

When mixture is warm to touch, roll two teaspoons of mixture into balls and place on greased/baking paper tray. Flatten slightly. Place in oven for 12 - 15 minutes until lightly browned. Allow to cool. Serve with a nice hot cup of tea or coffee. Mmmm =)

No need to worry because you can buy it in the US. Golden syrup is treacle in your part of the world. It's such and easy recipe. I highly recommend you make them and drink a cup of tea in one of those beautiful cups you have.
