soap box

Now I don't normally do this but this article really got my goat. I don't know about you, but I would be rather offended if someone referred to me as a horse, tongue in cheek or otherwise, especially when referring to my gender.

If the Age thinks it's ok to refer to a woman as a pretty horse because they are attractive (which means it's ok cos they are clearly not horsy or animal like) then they are completely wrong.

What year is it people? What country do we live in? Haven't we come further than that?

It's so blatantly thoughtless, insulting and downright stupid.

Grrrr. *stamping my feet*

I think the author was just trying to be clever, because it is the racing carnival, and it being a title of some romantic film. I wouldn't worry about it too much. ;)

Giddy up Richard Hinds. Loser.

(note also his comment re how Twigley (?) 'double breastedly' managed something?!)

Yep, and why is feminism a dirty word amongst women now? How did that happen??? It matters! The slow erosion back to the dark old days if we let things like this slip past. Good on you, Melanie. K
